MEPP students are invited to submit requests for funds to subsidize the cost of attendance at meetings or conferences relevant to their MEPP
program of study. Presentations based on the student's case studies or
internship papers are particularly encouraged. Requests for up to $500 will be entertained. Target dates for requests are September 1 for the fall semester and February 1 for the spring semester and the following summer, although requests will be considered on a rolling basis, according to fund availability. Requests should be submitted electronically to mepp@umd.edu.
Requests for funding should include:
- an explanation of the event to be attended (with its website
URL);
- a description of how the event enhances the student's studies
and preparation for his or her engineering and public policy career;
- an explanation of the nature of the student's participation in
the event (eg. presenting paper; leading a committee; moderating a discussion); and
- the itemized total estimated costs, other sources where the
student has applied for funding including the Graduate School, and sources of funding for costs not covered by the MEPP funds.
Funding, when granted, will be in the form of reimbursement to a student's UMD account, upon filing of original receipts.
